Rosacea Treatments

Reduce the redness...

Red Rules
Here's a scary fact: every one in 20 people in the UK suffers from rosacea. Misunderstood & often mistreated, here are some ways to reduce the redness forever.

Skin looks red and swollen on the outside because capillaries beneath the surface get overloaded with blood. One theory is that a skin mite is responsible for the infection; another that it is caused by a bacteria in the gut and the most likely theory is that it is genetically inherited. London dermatologist, Dr Nick Lowe, believes the biggest culprit for bringing on a bout of rosacea is sun exposure.

Treating rosacea is about learning what to do as well as what to avoid. Whilst experts debate its cause, one thing they can all agree on is how hard rosacea is to treat. Previously, remedies only consisted of oral antibiotics and topical antibacterial gels.

Treatment 1: IPL
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) can help because the short bursts of light convert into heat and destroy the offending blood vessel. Another plus point is that the light energy stimulates new collagen - which means small blood vessels are supported & the appearance of more thread veins is held in check. This treatment is even more effective if combined with a facial peel a few days in advance.

Treatment 2: Peels
The texture of the skin of someone with rosacea is often very thin and dry, after a Mandelic Acid peel the redness quickly starts to diffuse. Mandelic Acid encourages skin that's become lazy to produce more collagen and the result can mean the difference between an angry flare-up and a rosy glow where the skin has thickened enough to camouflage capillaries naturally.

Treatment 3: Creams
Clarte & Confort Serum
